Susan K. Otterbacher, neé Alshouse, 78, of Zion, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2023, in Kenosha, WI.
Susan graduated from Zion Benton High School, class of 1962. Susan married Theron Otterbacher on March 26, 1966, in Zion, IL. She was a member of Christ Community Church where she volunteered in a variety of ways over the years, American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 865, and La Leche League International. She was involved with the Girl Scouts of America for 15 years, investing into the lives of hundreds of girls. At the end of her service to the Girl Scouts, she was given a distinguished leader award. Susan worked for Jockey and Zion School District #6 but spent most of her adult life as a homemaker, devoting her time to her family. Susan also loved her cats and doted on many of them over the past several decades.
Susan is survived by her children, Audra (Stephen) Dutler, Daniel (Roxanne) Otterbacher, Heidi (Ryan) Lindsey; grandchildren, Rachel Dutler, Ian Dutler, Makenna Lindsey, Ethan Lindsey, Jerred Otterbacher, Nicolette Otterbacher; sisters-in-law, Veronica Alshouse, Bridgette Otterbacher, Suzanne Otterbacher; brother-in-law Alan Otterbacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theron Otterbacher; parents, William & Rachel (Snelling) Alshouse; brother, Richard Alshouse; brother-in-law Neil Otterbacher; sister-in-law Marie (Otterbacher) Kinnick.
