As an IL State Trooper, somehow I had a huge incident in or around Zion, I found Ronnie would always show up. Trooper had no partners or back-up and almost always handled incidents on our own. One huge incident was when I handled the double fatal car vs. tree at 29th and Greenbay Road. When Ronnie showed up, he was my right hand man and helped me handle this horrible scene with incredible unselfishness and kept asking me what else he could do. I had him handle things I just couldn't do all on my own and his help was recognized by my State Police command as a result. I had the greatest respect for him. Roger's (Whitmore) handled the vehicle pick-ups and it was ironic that his wife was the initial call that we dispatched on.
