Neal was active in his church and youth ministries during his school years and maintained a strong faith throughout his life. In 1967, he married Lynn, his high school sweetheart. Together they shared nearly 59 years of marriage—an enduring example of love and commitment. After completing his education, Neal began a long and fulfilling career with Bell Laboratories, later earned graduate degrees while balancing work and family life. He and Lynn settled in Naperville, Illinois, where they raised their family. Neal was a devoted and supportive husband, including encouraging Lynn in her professional pursuits and later in fulfilling her dream of operating a bed-and-breakfast. Neal was well known for his hospitality and his famous sourdough blueberry pancakes. Neal enjoyed an active lifestyle and valued time with family and friends. He participated in team sports, coached youth athletics, and loved outdoor adventures. Summers were often spent in Wisconsin, and winter trips included family skiing vacations. He also enjoyed hiking, sailing, snorkeling, and exploring new places especially on his motorcycle with Lynn. Family was central to Neal’s life. He made every effort to attend his grandchildren’s activities and created special memories through meaningful time spent together, including travel experiences chosen by each grandchild. Neal lived with deep gratitude, always recognizing God’s blessings in his life. He remained steadfast in his faith even after receiving an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, expressing peace and confidence in his eternal home. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn; his 2 children; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; plus many extended family members and dear friends. Neal was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be made to Outreach Lodi and Blackhawk Impact Local/Global Fund. |
