About William Arthur Peete of Wadsworth passed away peacefully in his home on May 14, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was a native of Tipton County, Tennessee, born to Claudie B. and Emma Harvey Peete. He had been residing in Lake County for the past fifty-three years.

William retired from the Zion-Benton Township High School District after teaching Biological Sciences at Zion-Benton Township High School for thirty-four years.

Willam accepted Christ at an early age at the Canaan Grove Baptist Church in Mason, Tennessee. He furthered his Christian Walk in Lake County at the Shiloh Baptist Church of Waukegan were he dutifully served Christ as a Deacon and subsequently as the Chairman of the Board of Deacons for over thirty-three years. William also served in various ministries around the church; Sunday School, Leadership Training, Bible Study, the Soup Kitchen, and the Men’s Ministry, to name a few.

He was an active member in the community and his engagements included: coaching Little League Baseball and Basketball for the Waukegan Park District. As head baseball coach, William’s team received honorable recognition by the Waukegan City Council. William was also the Waukegan High School sophomore-level basketball coach.

William was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated, Alpha Theta Chapter, where he pledged at Tennessee State University.

William was also a member of The United States Marines and received Honorable Discharge.

Deacon William Peete leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife, Ethel Harper Peete of Wadsworth, Illinois; three children, Emarcia Peete, Whalen Peete (Susa), and Wesley Peete (Mary), granddaughter Emily Grace Peete; sister, Viola Degraffereid (John), brother, Robert Peete (Linda); a host of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, Goddaughters and Godsons; Church members family and friends. He was preceded in death by siblings Mary Middlebrooks (William), Linda Peete (James), Earleen Peete, Dorothy Frazier (Marion), Claudius B Peete (Rosie), George Peete (Dorothy), James "O.T." Peete (Martha), David Peete (Diana).
