About | Mary Elaine is survived by her mother Evelyn Dill, her siblings Eddie Dill, Kay (Steve) Kreutzer, her brother-in-law Chuck Johnson, her nieces and nephews; Tiffany (Guy) Meikle, Adam (Deborah) Johnson, Emmy Dill, Kyle (Rachael) Kreutzer, Trevor, and Dillon Kreutzer and great nephews Luca, Giovanni, Marco Johnson and Henry Kreutzer, and her dear friend Don Wittrock. She is preceded in death by husband Robert Johnson, Father William Dill, sister Emily Johnson and nephew Brent Johnson. She grew up in Winthrop Harbor and Zion, graduated from Zion-Benton Township Highschool in 1972 and received a business degree Patricia Steven's Business College in Milwaukee, WI. She worked at Chicago Title and Trust, spent 19 years at WM. Schwartz & Co. Insurance managing office as bookkeeper where she retired. After retirement she helped manage her mother and father's company, Dill Bros Inc. Elaine was smart, strong, generous, and kind. She loved hard. When you needed her, she made you cookies, brought meals when you weren't feeling well, was in charge of the food at the potlucks and parties, and shared all of the beautiful things she grew with love in her garden. She loved playing golf, cherished being with her animals, her dearest friends and was an incredible auntie. Her family has chosen to have a private gathering to celebrate and honor her. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Greentown Grows, a non-profit based in her hometown of Waukegan which supports community gardens, gives the food they grow to local people in need, and are in the midst of building a greenhouse to further sustain their mission.
