About	Gene Davis Borop, 63, of Antioch, Illinois, died on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at his home following a long illness. Gene was born December 17, 1943 in Princeton, Illinois and grew up in Walnut, Illinois. He was a graduate of Western Illinois University and received his Masters Degree from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He began his teaching career at Zion-Benton Township High School in 1967, where he also coached football and track until retiring in 2000. He continued coaching track at Warren High School in Gurnee through 2006. Coaching was his lifelong passion, but he was also a fisherman, golfer, an avid Green Bay Packer fan, a fan of country music and he enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. Survivors include his beloved wife of 39 years, Sharon; his loving children, Tim (Tammie) Borop and Jill (Tim) Mattner, both of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. He was proud "Papa" to his five granddaughters, Kayla, Brooklyn, Kelsey, Reese and Teagan; and his fond sister, Linda Hamilton of Lexington, Kentucky.
