I did 5 years active in the US Army. I was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, in Fort Bragg, NC. I did two deployments to Afghanistan. One for 8 months in 2003 and the other for 12 months in 2005 - 06. Now I'm in the Army Reserve and part of the Army Reserve Medical Command.

ENTERED THE MARINE CORPS OFFICER CANDIDATE TRAINING IN 1963 AND STARTED FLIGHT TRAINING IN JUNE OF THAT YEAR. RECEIVED NAVY WINGS OF GOLD IN SEPTEMBER OF 1964 AND JOINED MARINE MEDIUM HELICOPTER SQUADRON 263 AT MCAS NEW RIVER, NORTH CAROLINA IN NOVEMBER 1964. DEPLOYED WITH THIS SQUADRON ON THE USS OKINAWA IN MAY OF 1965 TO HELP WITH THE CONFLICT THAT BROKE OUT IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. DURING THE LAST OF AUGUST 1965 DEPLOYED TO SOUTH VIETNAM SUBSEQUENTLY JOINED MARINE MEDIUM HELICOPTER SQUADRON 362 AND FLEW 497 COMBAT MISSIONS AND LEFT COUNTRY THE LAST OF OCTOBER 1966. TRANSITIONED TO A-4 SKYHAWKS IN 1968 AND RETURNED TO VIETNAM IN DECEMBER 1968 FLYNG 186 MORE MISSIONS GIVING ME A TOTAL OF 683 COMBAT MISSIONS AND LEFT VIETNAM IN DECEMBER1969. RECEIVED ORDERS FOR INSTRUCTOR DUTY AT NAS GLYNCO GEORGIA FLYING THE T-39. SUBSEQUENTLY BECAME EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF SOES AT MCAS CHERRY POINT, N.C., WEIRS-17 AT MCAS JAPAN, ATTENDED ARMY JUMP SCHOOL IN 1970, THAN MARINE CORPS COMMMAND & STAFF COLLEGE IN QUANTICO, VIRGINIA FROM THERE RECEIVED ORDERS TO MCAS EL TORO AND SERVED IN VARIOUS COMMAND POSITIONS AND EVENTUALLY RETIRED AS A MAJOR JUNE 30TH, 1983.
