About	George W. Simons II, (68) of Gainesville, FL, passed away on March 24, 2018 after fighting a heroic battle with cancer. George was born in Tampa and grew up in Zephyrhills. He served his Country in the US Navy aboard the USS Saratoga and then relocated to Gainesville to start his 30-year career with UPS as a Package Driver. While retired, he was blessed to provide full-time care to both of his grandbabies until they started pre-school about the age of two. “Pop” was their best buddy and loved spending time playing with Thomas the Train and watching Sesame Street with them. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara, his son Geoffrey, his daughter Katelyn, his grandchildren Bryce and Ezra, his brother Robert Simons and his sister Nina Simons Duffield. George was a caretaker – he took care of everyone and was always the first person to step up to offer help anywhere he could. He was generous, kind, and never met a stranger. He leaves a hole in the hearts of all who loved him – we will miss him dearly.
