Mildred Ball Mangold was born in New Jersey in 1895 to John D. and Mary E. Ball, moving to Zanesville, where she was a member of the Zanesville High School Class of 1914. Her siblings were Ruth G., Joseph V. and Mary E. Ball. Mildred married Harry Mangold and had a least one son, named Harry A. Mangold, Jr., who went on to become a doctor in the military and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
