Thelma L. Williams, 73 of Zanesville, died 3:50 AM Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospice & Palliative Care surrounded by her family. She was born Monday, March 6, 1939 in Zanesville, the daughter of William "Bill' Holbert and Gertrude "Gertie"(Newman) Holbert and raised by her grandparents: Frank & Eliza Holbert. She married James D. "Jim" Williams on Thursday, April 14, 1960.
Thelma was a devoted member of Wings of Hope Tabernacle and very involved in many church organizations. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Leader of the Song Services and sang in the choir. Thelma had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.
Thelma is survived by her husband: Jim Williams; two daughters: Melissa & Bryan Harris and Imelda & Robert "Bobby" Newman; two sons: James and Christopher
Williams and Michael Wesley (Jodie Williams) Williams all of Zanesville; one daughter-in-law Reonita Green of Zanesville; six grandchildren: James C. Williams II, Ryan Harris, Ashleigh Hill, Nathan Williams, Leighann Harris and Gauge Williams; three great grandchildren: Harmony Harris, Ke'anna Harris and Jorhdyn Williams; three step-grandchildren: Shawna Mohler, Jahkyri Wicker and Lauren Williams; one sister: Rachel Russell of Columbus; one brother: Harold Holbert of Columbus; one sister-in-law: Phyllis Holbert of Columbus; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by one brother: Edward Holbert; one grandson: Infant Chet Arthur; aunts: Gladys Spicer, May Norris, Frances Simpson and Golda Day; uncles: Roy Holbert, Harry Holbert, Arthur Holbert and Freddy Newman.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
