COLUMBUS: Dorothy M. Guard, 83, of Columbus, died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Adams Lane Care Center. She was born November 14, 1928 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Robert W. and Doris Perrone Ayres. She was a member of Finley United Methodist Church, a former 4-H Advisor. She was employed at Mosaic Tile, Combs Shoes, Elder-Beerman and Hilltop Florists.
Surviving are a son, Donald Martin Guard and companion, Mary Brandel of Columbus and a daughter, Ruth (David) Rinehart of Spring Hills, Florida; brother, Donald (Delores) Ayres of Zanesville; two grandchildren, Stacy and Jarrod; a great grandchild; three special friends, May Dockray, Ellie Patton, and Linda King of Zanesville; a sister-in-law, Lucille Ayres and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William Guard, who died January 28, 2007, a sister, Marguerite Moore and a brother, William Ayres.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Robert, at Zanesville Memorial Park.
