| About | A funeral service for Wanita F. Shaw, age 96, of Heath, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, at The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, with Pastor Jim Addy, officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Jacksontown, Ohio, on Monday, February 9 at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held an hour before the service from 1-2 p.m. at The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 1249 Hebron Road, Heath. Wanita passed away February 4, 2026. She was born January 10, 1930 to the late William and Nellie (Snelling) Steed in Zanesville, Ohio. Wanita was a graduate of Zanesville High School. She married her late husband, Tillman Junior Shaw on October 3, 1952. The couple began their family and settled in the Heath area. In her younger years of marriage, Wanita enjoyed taking long drives with her husband in their Chevy. She later found joy in staying active with Tillman, through bicycling, line dancing, square dancing, and bowling. She volunteered in the 1960s at a school for students with disabilities. She later began working as a clerk at the snack bar at Licking Memorial Hospital and eventually transitioned into a cashier role as the hospital expanded and the cafeteria was established. She was also a volunteer at the hospital. Above all, she most enjoyed her family. During her lifetime she was a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. She is survived by her son, Richard “Rick” (Sheri) Shaw ; grandchildren, Jared (Cindy McAlpine) Shaw, Tiffany (Nathaniel) Strauch, Karsten, Braden, Landon, Skylar, Pietrick, Bailey, Kendrick, Carlisle and Mendell; great-grandsons, Dylan Shaw, Ethan Strauch and Nicholas Strauch; great-grandchild, Declan Shaw; daughter-in-law, Carol Shaw; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tillman Junior Shaw; son, Tillman E. “Gene” Shaw; one grandson, Darrick; and her siblings. |
