| About | Mary Vada Cohagen, 92, of Zanesville Ohio, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Mary was born on June 22, 1933, to Ora C. and Ulla Woods. In addition to Mary’s parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Robert L. Cohagen. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Susan (Don) Myers and Danny (Betty Jo) Cohagen; grandchildren, Karah (Ryan) Bailey, Katey (Nate Swogger) Khune, Kelly (Andrew) Wisniewski, Melissa (Brett) Cohagen Athey, Nicholas (Amanda) Cohagen, Jacob (Jessica) Cohagen, Matthew Cohagen and Brannon Cohagen; great grandchildren, Addyson Kuhne, Lacey Khune, Nathan (Alexis) Wisniewski, Tristen Mantei, Addi Athey and Abbie Cohagen; as well as many other friends and family. As an only child, Mary learned to be independent and lived on her own at a young age. She became a housewife and mother, raising her children until later in her life she started her career as a chair-side dental assistant for Dr. Chad Fogel until she retired. She then worked part time for JC Penny in the mall until her husband, Bob retired. Mary enjoyed cooking and baking as well as crocheting making of afghans which she gifted and donated too many to count. She said she would never sell them; they were a gift she loved to make, and she will be remembered “warmly” by all lucky enough to receive. Mary also loved animals, having many cats and dogs throughout the years. She had so many deer at her house every day that she enjoyed feeding, always calling them “babies”. She loved and missed her special dog Mollie who she still grieved after she passed away. She leaves behind her dog, Strudel who she loved telling people “She looks like the dog on the Little Caesars commercials”. At 92 years young, Mary continued her daily trips to Walmart, driving herself there most times getting her exercise by zipping up and down the aisles and knowing most check out people by name. Spicy little Mary lived her life on her own terms and loved huge. She was so strong and independent. We know Bob, her husband of 70 years and her beloved Mollie were there to welcome her home. Blessing and gratitude to the loving and kind nurses and doctors at Genesis CCU and special thanks to Layla at the Morrison House who took care of Mary and Bob at the time of both of their passing. This family is truly blessed by her. Per Mary’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family. |
