Gloria J. Morris, 78, of New Concord, died at 11:20 am on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at The Beckett House in New Concord. She was born August 29, 1946, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Thomas F. and Betty (Market) Wharton. During her time working at Muskingum College, she became a “house mom” to so many young men who maintained a special place in her heart years later. Gloria had a deep love for animals of all kinds- cats, dogs, horses- opening her home to creatures great and small. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a bonus grandmother to the friends of her grandchildren.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 57 years, Earl W. Morris, whom she married November 16, 1967; children Cindy (Casey) Harriman, Brian (Renee) Morris and Mark (Lisa) Morris; grandchildren Lexus Harriman, Paige (Clayton) Harriman, Ethan Morris, Kyle (Lauren) Morris, Baylee (Sarah) Morris and Chase Morris; a great granddaughter Lakelynn; a sister Cyndi Hall; a sister-in-law Debbie (Jim) Whetzel; and several nieces and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Jeffery Wharton; and a grandson Adam.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at The Beckett House for their exceptional care. Gloria came to love so many of her caretakers.
Per Gloria’s wishes, no services will be held.
