About	Rita Jean (Seevers) Guthrie 81, of Duncan Falls, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and the well-worn pages of her favorite books. Rita was born on November 18,1943 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late James R. Seevers and Freda Krouskoupf Gebhart. Rita was an attentive mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a homemaker and trusted babysitter for nearly 40 years. Rita was an avid reader whose love of stories knew no bounds. In just the past year, she read 101 books, each one a new journey she embraced with joy and curiosity. Rita is survived by her three children: Randy (Darby) Guthrie of South Carolina, Debbie (Jeff) Gheen of Duncan Falls, and Brenda (Benjamin) Miller of Virginia; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Andrew) Luallen, Joshua Guthrie, Jessica (JJ) Mickey, Seth (Kristin) Guthrie, Ashley Miller, Lance Guthrie, and Megan Miller; and step-grandchildren, Travis Guy and Leontin (Tyler) McGee and her baby brother Russell Seevers, who always held a special place in her heart. Her grandchildren were her greatest treasures, but her great-grandchildren — Meridith and Avaline Luallen, Charlotte and Creed Mickey — along with her step-great-grandchildren, RyLynn and Ezra McGee, were her true pride and joy, filling her days with endless happiness. In her final years, Rita found a second family among the dear friends she made — her ‘besties’ at Willowhaven — who brought her endless laughter, companionship, and joy, filling her days with love and lasting memories. In addition to her parents, Rita is preceded in death by beloved husband Gary whom she married on June 7, 1962 who passed away on December 16, 2021; her two sisters Delores Dankers and Beverly Cortez and her daughter-in-law, Debbie Guthrie who passed on April 26, 2003. Memorial contributions may be made in Rita’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or online at www.stjude.org. Visitations will be 5 to 8 pm on Monday, April 28th and 10 to noon on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Tuesday. Pastor Karen Osborn will officiate the service. Rita will be laid to rest beside her husband at Duncan Falls Cemetery.
