About | Alvin “Richard” Fleming, 93, of Zanesville, died at 2:13 A.M. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 1, 1932, in Logan, Ohio, a son of the late George Clifton and Thelma Lucille (Stricklett) Fleming. Richard graduated from Lash High School in 1950, and went on to earn a B.S. Degree in Industrial Technology, Ohio University Athens (1961). He retired as an engineer from Siegel Robert in St. Louis, Missouri and was a member of Rolling Plains Methodist Church. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy and during his time in the military, he was recognized with a good conduct medal and the national defense service medal. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Glenna Jean (Spence) Fleming, who he married on March 30, 1956; children, Jan Ellen (Frank) Phillips, Jay Brent (Theresa) Fleming, Jerry Dean (Michelle) Fleming, and Jean Ann (Tracey) Presley; thirteen grandchildren, Jonathan Richard Fleming, Alan Brady Fleming, Bryan James Fleming, Chrystal May Priest, William Douglas Priest, Joni Nichol White, Austin Jayme Rice, Austin Dean Fleming, Aidan David Fleming, Alec Douglas Fleming, Alexander Ray Presley, Andrew James Presley, Ana Jean Presley; ten great grandchildren; and fourteen nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his two sons, Jeffrey Alan Fleming (2020) and James Bryan Fleming (2018); three brothers and sisters in law, George (Jackie) Clifton Fleming ll, Robert (Patricia) Fleming and Whiten (Alice) Mauk. Friends and family may call from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M., at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor John Alice officiating. Military honors will be accorded to him by the United States Navy, in conjunction the VWF George Selsam Post 1058. |
