About Roy R. “Hawkeye”Hawkins, 78, of Zanesville, died at 1:15 A.M. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Genesis Hospice Morrison-House. He was born January 25, 1947, in Zanesville, a son of the late McKinley “Mack” and Thelma (Hunnel) Hawkins. Roy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and worked as a forklift operator at the Putnam Transfer and tirelessly each year as Santa Clause for all the children. He was outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, and squirrel hunting with his loyal beagle “Red”. He was an avid Blue Devils fan, liked going to the senior center for lunch and loved playing euchre with his friends.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Hawkins whom he married January 12, 2001; a son, Ben (Allie) Hawkins; step daughter, Jorinda; grandchildren, Sarah, Elizabeth, Amber, and Shelby; great grandchildren, Dalton, Duncan and Samwise; two sisters, Laura Jenkins and Flora Hutchinson; his best friend, Mike Cassapini; several nieces and nephews; and his many friends at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Lois; a brother, Jake Hawkins; and two sisters, Charlene and Maxine Hawkins.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 22, 2025, in the Cultural Hall of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 3300 Kerns Dr. Zanesville, OH. 43701, Ohio. All are invited to a luncheon at Coburn United Methodist Church 3618 Maple Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio, in the Welcome Hall immediately following the service.

A cremation will take place under the direction of the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE Roy will be laid to rest beside his first wife Lois at Woodlawn Cemetery, Zanesville.
