About Edward L. “Ed” Lyons, age 87, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on June 15, 1937, in Muskingum County, Ohio, Ed lived a life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and work.

He served in the United States Army for two years as a draftsman stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. After his military service, Ed attended the University of Cincinnati for two years before building a successful career in sales, working primarily as a salesman and sales manager specializing in commercial hollow metal products. His strong work ethic and ability to connect with others defined his professional life and led to multiple National Sales Manager of the Year awards.

In retirement, Ed continued to find joy through personal interaction and community involvement. He especially enjoyed his role as a cashier at Publix, where he greeted customers with warmth and kindness.

A man of deep faith, Ed was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of Metropolitan Church of God in Birmingham. His spiritual commitment was reflected in his generous spirit and steadfast character.

Ed found happiness in simple pleasures—spending time with friends, playing cards, working on jigsaw puzzles, listening to music that stirred memories, and traveling to new places that brought him joy.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Gloria; daughters Cynthia Lyons; Carol Lyons McAlpine (Scott); Kelly Lyons Warren (Chad); and Holly Lyons; grandchildren Cameron Skylar Lyons; Katherine Warren; Dylan Thomas (Shanley); Josie Lyons Spears (Austin); and Jared Warren; great-granddaughter Ruby Wren Spears; and brother David Lyons (Karen).

He was preceded in death by his father Cecil Lyons; mother Florence Lyons; and sister Diana Lyons Cina.

A memorial service celebrating Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Metropolitan Church of God, 2800 Metropolitan Way, Birmingham, Alabama 35243. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by the service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Alabama National Cemetery.
