About Charles William “Buddy” Conkle, 82, of Zanesville, died at 6:48 A.M. on Tuesday, January 22, 2025, at the Adams Lane Care Center in Zanesville, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 20, 1942, in Zanesville, a son of the late Charles Francis and Madlin (Leach) Conkle. Charles was a 1960 graduate of Zanesville High School, after graduation he joined the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany from 1960 thru 1963. There he met the love of his life, Monika Pohl. He retired from the Zanesville Police Department where he served as patrolman, public relations officer and detective. He was inducted into the FOP Hall of Fame in 1996. He was a member of the FOP Lodge #5 for over 50 years. He also retired from the Muskingum County Auditor’s office where he served for fifteen years as the county weights and measures inspector.

He is survived and greatly missed by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Monika (Pohl) Conkle, whom he married on September 12, 1962; his children, Brenda (Jim) Webb and Heidi (Bruce) Collins; grandchildren, Alison (Joshua) Martinez, CJ (Alex) Webb, and Tessa (Josh) Mohler; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Rihanna, Eva, Gunner, Greyson, Delaney, Sophie and a soon to be great-grandson; great-great granddaughter, Alayna; sister, Julie Conkle; and he also leaves behind, many friends, police comrades, including his best friend, Joe Graham.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Bobbi Watton; and his brother-in-law, Larry Watton.

Friends and family may call from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 12:00 P.M. Noon on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with full Military Honors accorded to him by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam post 1058.
