About Alyce Anita Kirby, 87, of Zanesville Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Alyce was born on November 25, 1936, to Edward and Frances Turner. In addition to her parents, Alyce is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, James Kirby Jr, who she married in 1956; children, Brian Kirby and James E. Kirby; siblings, Warren “Butch” Turner, Eddy L. Turner and Gertrude E. “Betty” Turner.

Alyce leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Kenneth Kirby and Keith Kirby; grandchildren, Lakin (Levi) Cornell and Darcine Kirby; great grandchildren, Rockel, Jeremiah and Lea; siblings, Jack L. Turner and Kay Turner Motley; several nieces and nephews, as well as many other friends and family.

Alyce was a true ladies lady, one who would always support a woman in whatever aspect was presented. She enjoyed going on trips with her husband as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of The Union Baptist Church in Zanesville Ohio who dedicated a plaque to her family for Kirby Hall. Alyce enjoyed bowling, tennis and planting flowers in her free time. Alyce was a graduate of Zanesville high school, which was the first class to graduate from ZHS as well as the last class to go through LASH high school. Alyce was an avid fan of Venus Williams and Tiger Woods. She also enjoyed watching football games and cheering on her Ohio State Buckeyes. She was a very socially easy-going lady. One of her fondest organizations she was a part of was being a member of the Christian Women's United organization. Alyce enjoyed getting her hair and nails done at her granddaughter's salon, Lakins Nails. She also enjoyed going shopping, specifically at JCPenney. Alyce was a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

You may call on the family on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church in Zanesville, with funeral services starting at 11 a.m. Burial will follow the funeral services in Woodlawn Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
