Thomas E. "T.J." Johnson, 55, of Zanesville, passed away at 6:54 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2009 at his residence after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Born January 2, 1954 in Zanesville, he was a Domino's Pizza Franchisee, opening his first store at 1710 East Pike in Zanesville. T.J. was a caring husband, father, and "Pap-Pap" to his granddaughter. He was a mentor and father-figure to many of his current and former employees. T.J. also enjoyed bowling, softball, texas hold em, fishing, golfing, spending time with his family and friends and was a member of the Ohio Harness Horseman's Association.

Surviving are his wife, and love of his life, Melody Ford Johnson, whom he married July 21, 1977; his mother, Jacqueline Johnson, of Zanesville; two daughters and their husbands, whom T.J. considered sons of his own, Lisa (Damon) Burkett and Tommi (Jimmy) Pitcock, all of Zanesville; three sisters, Becky Bailey and Carolyn Sue Morrison, both of North Carolina and Linda Gordon of Texas; a granddaughter, Kaidence Burkett; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

T. J. was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Johnson.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, 56 South 5th St.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Clarence Dinnen officiating. Burial will take place at Zanesville Memorial Park.
