About	Janet F. Burns, 83, of Zanesville, passed away at 5:25 p.m. Monday March 11, 2024 at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility. She was born on August 2, 1940 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Howard E. and Alta Mae (Bishop) McClurg. She was a graduate of Zanesville High School class of 1958. She had previously been employed and retired from J.C. Penney in July of 2005 after 47 years of service. She was a member of First Christian Church since 1950. She is survived by one daughter Joyce (Burns) Dodson and son-in-law Craig Dodson. Four grandchildren Michael Craig (Tiffany) Sprankle, Cody (Ashley) Sprankle, Doug (Katie) Dodson, and Kayla (Benny) Hinkle. Nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Burns, whom she married on October 3, 1960 and passed away on November 21, 2023. One brother Donald Plummer. The family would like to thank the special caregivers of Brookdale Assisted Living Facility, especially the memory care unit and Genesis Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Muskingum County Animal Shelter. Graveside services will be held at 11;00 a.m. Friday March 15, 2024 at Zanesville Memorial Park with Rev. Phillip Hunt officiating. William Thompson & Son Funeral Home in White Cottage is assisting the Burns family.
