About Constance “Connie” Elaine Hill, 81, of Zanesville, OH entered the gates of heaven peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family and devoted husband on Thursday, March 21, 2024. Born to the late Harley and Jennie Dorr on July 25, 1942, Connie spent her life serving her community, family, and most importantly, the Lord by striving to spread joy and opportunities to those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Connie took great pride in her work as a Case Worker at Muskingum County JFS and as the clerk for Hopewell Township, but she was even more honored to build her life with her husband of 60 years, Edward Hill, who she married on August 3, 1963. Together they created a beautiful life on the family farm where they raised her greatest joys, her children and grandchildren. A smile always donned her face when she got to spend time with them. She could often be found in the kitchen creating meals to bring these loved ones together to create special memories and ensured none who entered her doors went hungry. Typically taking special requests, especially from Ed, who challenged her creativity as a picky eater, she taught her family many recipes whenever they joined her for a lesson, which came with the freshest ingredients grown and picked with love by her own hands. She worked hard to create the most expansive flower and vegetable gardens where she could be found on those sunny Summer days, her favorite time of year. After a long day in the garden, which always started with coffee and a splash of milk, she would tend to her chickens, cook her delectable meals, then make certain they could have them year round by preserving them through canning, freeze-drying, and more. As a connoisseur of lost arts, she was also an avid seamstress who enjoyed making clothes from an early age, joining the Quilt and Cermaics Clubs which allowed her to find companionship with her many friends with the same passions. In addition to her devoted husband, Ed, Connie is survived by her four children, Maureen (Rodney) Riley, Melanie (Burt) Minosky, Jeffrey (Michelle) Hill, and Susan (Scott) Suchland, all of Zanesville; twelve grandchildren; Katherine (Blaine) Klaus; Michaila (Dillon) Shepherd; Colton Riley; Zackary, Andrew, and Joshua Minosky; Mackenzie, Tyler, and Maria Hill; Bryce, Joseph, and Lainey Suchland; two great-grandchildren; Riggs and Graceanne Klaus; and three brothers, Harley, John (Susan), and Nick (Shelly) Dorr. She was preceded in death by her parents and great-grandson, Wells Thorin Shepherd. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at American Renal Associates-Kidney Care Center in Zanesville where Connie always took peppermints to others and loved sharing gardening and canning stories.
