J.R. "Bob" Friesinger, 89, of Zanesville, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at Morrison House Hospice.
Mr. Friesinger was born Oct. 31, 1919, in Zanesville, a son of the late William and Florence Conner Friesinger. He was a 1937 graduate of Lash High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 936th Ordnance Co. in the European Theatre. He had worked at the Hazel-Atlas Glass Co. and operated the Friesinger Candy Co. with his father. Mr. Friesinger worked for the Foldger Coffee Co. and retired from Procter & Gamble after 28 years. He loved his family and his home, enjoying camping and gardening, golfing at Green Valley and woodworking, especially making keepsakes for his grandchildren. He was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Zanesville.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Jean Friesinger, whom he married Nov. 17, 1940; three children, Susan (Bill) Moore of Canal Winchester, John (Wanda) Friesinger of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Eric (Marianne) Friesinger of Zanesville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Karla Leckrone of Zanesville.
Calling hours will begin at 9 a.m. with serivices at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 545 Richey Road. The Rev. Andy Winters will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church or Genesis Hospice; envelopes will be available at the church.
