About Diana Marie Martin, 64, of Zanesville, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and her beloved sons on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Genesis Hospital. Diana was born December 12, 1959, in Angola, Indiana to Carol (Mayle) Moses and the late Donald Moorehead. In addition to her father, Diana was also welcomed into Paradise by her cherished sons, Joel Martin and Jerry Martin II; her mother and father-in-law, Edley and Bobbie Martin; brother, Otis Moses; brothers-in-law, Larry Martin and Jeffrey Burke; nephew and nieces, Jaylin Ware, Jade Moorehead and Courtney Liggett.

Diana leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and dedicated husband of 43 years, Jerry “Okey” Martin; her mother, Carol Moses; siblings, Gayla Ware, Ralph Moorehead and Sharon Burke; step-siblings, Brian (Amy) Moorehead and Andrea (David) Rutledge; beloved grandchildren, Kilynn, Evelynn and Jackson Martin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Flora Martin, Terry (Connie) Martin, Gary (Chris Knapp) Martin and Cinny Martin; daughter-in-law, Chrishia Martin; a host of other relatives; numerous special friends; beloved church family of Union Baptist Church; as well as her many colleagues and friends in the Zanesville City Schools system.

Diana was born with the ‘gift of gab’, so much so that she was affectionately given the nickname Motor Mouth. That gift of gab made Diana loved by everyone. She was truly a gift to everyone that she gabbed to. Even at an early age, Diana carried herself at a high standard. That standard being beautiful both inside and out. She will always be remembered for her impeccable style. Diana was a 1978 graduate of Zanesville High School, and was crowned the 1977 Homecoming Queen.

Diana dedicated many years of employment to Zanesville City Schools as a librarian. Even after taking her retirement, Diana returned to the schools to continue to enrich the lives of children. The reach of Diana’s knowledge, love and kindness is immeasurable. Not a person whom she met could forget the pureness of Diana’s soul. Diana was an avid collector of frogs and known as the F.R.O.G. Lady: “Fully Rely on God”.

Diana was a member of the Women’s Benevolence Society and she also participated in the operation of an after school program for the children. She was a faithful member of the Union Baptist Church in downtown Zanesville, where she served as Treasurer and was instrumental in the Union Baptist Angel Tree program for Christmas. Diana was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sorely missed by a vast community that will forever reverberate with her impact.

You may call on the family Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Zanesville High School Gymnasium. An additional visitation will be held Monday, January 22, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 12 p.m., at Union Baptist Church, 56 Eighth St., in Zanesville. Dr. Reverend Ernest Dandridge officiating. Following services, Diana will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, alongside her sons.
