Charmaine A. Ryan, 73, of Zanesville, died at 10:45 A.M. on Monday, December 18, 2023, at her home. She was born December 10, 1950, in Batavia, NY, a daughter of the late Carlton Sr. and Cecilia M. (Scopelliti) Hellems. She was a lifelong teacher, working for Lakewood Schools and retiring from Tri-Valley Schools where she taught French and Spanish. She enjoyed crafting homemade greeting cards and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Michael A. Ryan, whom she married December 27, 1973; a daughter Nicole (John) Sheaffer; six grandchildren, Ryan Sheaffer, James Sheaffer, Noah Sheaffer, John Jr. Sheaffer, Scarlett-Ann Sheaffer, and Charmaine Sheaffer; one great grandchild Nico Sheaffer; three sisters, Margaret May, Camellia Matters and Mary Hayden; and a brother Carlton Hellems Jr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother John Hellems.
Friends and family may call one hour prior to the Celebration of Life which will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 23, 2023
