About | Victor Louis Flowers, age 85, died peacefully in his sleep, and surrounded by his family, on Saturday, December 31, 2016, in Lubbock, Texas. Victor was born on January 13, 1931, in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of Harvey and Edith (Graves) Flowers. He survived a life threatening accident at the age of 9, and fought his way back to enjoy a full and happy childhood that included hard work building houses with his dad and becoming a celebrated varsity offensive lineman for the 1949 championship Lash High Blue Devils. His love of sports gave him great joy throughout his life. Victor served in the United States Army from 1952-1954. Victor married Barbara Ann Brearley in Zanesville on August 12, 1951, and together they raised 6 children. He moved his growing family to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he built a thriving business as a skilled craftsman and general contractor. Victor later married Joyce Jennings. In his later years, Victor enjoyed traveling around the country visiting his children and grandchildren, eating his lunch at Wendy's, and keeping up with his favorite sports teams, The Ohio State Buckeyes, The Dallas Cowboys, The LA Dodgers, and the UNM Lobos. His final years were spent in Clovis, New Mexico, with his daughter, Cathy, and her husband, Terry Blaschke, and Miles, his faithful dog, who lovingly cared for him. Victor is survived by his sister, Janet Stapleton; his daughter, Deborah Sue, and son in law, Robert Havens; daughter Linda Carole Norton; son, John Eric Flowers and daughter in law Deborah; daughter, Cathy Lynn and son in law, Terry Blaschke; son, Robert Blair Flowers and daughter in law Sandra; daughter, Elizabeth Ann and son in law, Perry Stepp. Victor is also survived by his two step sons, Charles and John George. Victor had 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and his wife, Joyce. Services for Victor Flowers will be Saturday, January 7, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church, in Clovis, New Mexico at 10:30 am. A graveside service will be held in Ohio at a later date. |
