Miss Grace Kerner of 1958 Euclid Ae., retired principal at Westview School; died at 3:10am Friday, August 1, 1969 at Bethesda Hospital after a short illness.
Miss Kerner was born April 3, 1895 in Zanesville, a daughter of George and Sophia Coutrap Kerner. She was a lifelong resident of the city.
She retired in 1960 after serving 45 years in the Zanesville public schools, 35 years as a principal. Miss Kerner served 31 years a principal at Westview School and before that for 4 years as principal at Lincoln School.
Miss Kerner was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she taught the Garges Adult Class for 45 years. She was active in the missionary work of the church.
She was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, the Chautauqua Reading Circle and Alpha Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Beulah K. Prose of 1928 Euclid Ave.; a niece, Mrs. Warren (Louise) McCormick of 801 Leonard Ave.; and a nephew, Fire Chief Kenneth Kerner of 563 Brookover Ave.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
