Vera Anita Ellis, 77, of Zanesville, died at 11:45 pm Saturday, October 14, 2006, at her residence.
Born February 6, 1929, in Zanesville, she was the daughter of the late Elwood and Lena White Shawger. Mrs. Ellis was a 1947 graduate of Lash High School and member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. She had been a secretary for Rose Tanoury and for Dr. Joseph McElhaney.
Surviving are three daughters, Cynthia Covert of Aurora; Diana (Kurt) Soutendijk of Grapevine, Texas, and Lora Ellis of Zanesville; five sons, David (Mary Lou) Ellis of Zaneville, Stephen Ellis of Sebring, FL, Vincent (Christy) Ellis of Delaware, Drew Ellis of Seattle, Washington, and Jason (Kelly) Ellis of Grove city; 13 grandchildren, James, Laura, Kenton, Katie, Sarah, Jared, Stephanie and Brian Ellis, Matthew and Ben Soutendijk, Carrie, Sam and Emily Covert.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Ellis, who died April 2, 1972, a grandson, Jack Elis; and a brother, Richard Shawger.
Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
