Bruce Lambert Boyd, 49, of Franklin, Tenn., passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at his residence. He was born Jan. 8, 1958 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of James Edward Sr. and Constance (Lambert) Boyd.

Bruce was a 1976 graduate of Xenia High School; an Airman First Class Fireman in the US Air Force from 1977-79; was employed as a bus driver with the Franklin Special School and worked with the Helping Hands Ministries in Tennessee.

He will long be remembered for his footage of the approaching 1974 Tornado that he shot from his home in Laynewood. The video was broadcast nationally and is still shown every time a special is aired about tornadoes. Bruce was a very conscientious environmentalist.

He is survived by a son, Preston M. Boyd, of Franklin, Tenn.; his parents, Jim and Connie Boyd, of Xenia; wife, Raeshawn Merritt, sisters: Karen (Perry) Pittroff, of Xenia, Becki (Darrel) Blackburn, of Fairborn, a brother, James E. Jr.(Marti) Boyd, of Cleves, nephews: Shane (Kate) Andrews, James E. III (Ginger) Boyd, Jared (Jaime) Boyd, Joshua Blackburn, Joel (Heather) Blackburn: nieces: Leigh Andrews, Shaunna Boyd, Dara Blackburn; great nephews: Hunter, Trevor, and Conor Andrews, Colton Gates, and J.J. Cokes, great nieces: Alexis and Aleigha Cokes, Ciaran, Ciersten, Rayli, Calli and Sadie Boyd and Briley Blackburn, Godparents: Norman and Doris Sharp as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at the McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc. 826 N. Detroit Street, Xenia with Pastor Mark Douras officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations made to the Preston M. Boyd Trust Fund c/o of US Bank.

His sudden death was ruled acute aspiration and pneumonia.
