About I copied this information from the Central Kentucky Concert Band website:
Brian D Carman Memorial Scholarships

Each year since 1998, the Central Kentucky Concert Band has awarded the Brian D. Carman Memorial Scholarship to deserving public high school students in memory of Brian D. Carman. The Scholarship consists of a certificate and a $250 cash award.

Brian, originally from Xenia, Ohio, joined the Central Kentucky Concert Band as principal tubist in 1995. Previously he had attended the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where he was a proud member of the Ohio State Marching Band. He had moved to Lexington to become an engineer at the Square D Corporation and was tragically killed in a traffic accident in the summer of 1997.

Through the largesse of Lou and Nova Carman, employees at Square D Corporation, and supplemented by the Central Kentucky Concert Band, the Brian D. Carman Memorial Scholarships were established in 1998 to keep alive and promote the spirit of continued band participation which was exemplified by Brian's life.

Scholarships are awarded annually to one student from each of the five public high schools in Lexington. The student must be a band member in good standing at their school with plans to continue participation in instrumental music in college. The goal of the Brian D. Carman Memorial Scholarships is to help foster in young people a desire for continued band participation, a desire which they shall hopefully carry with them for a lifetime.

XHS also gives a scholarship in memory of Brian:
