There were many places in my life that I could call home. Which I really don’t consider to be more than 4 walls of incarceration from the free and open wildness of the outside world. I’ve always been the outdoor type, ferociously taking in the the aromatic scents of the outdoors as if it were a perfume that God sent down himself to tickle and liven my nostrils. Of all my favorites the one place sticks out the most in my mind as being the top would be a place I named Wonderland. It’s a vast winding forest rich with the scent of fresh colorful wildflowers and lush lime green rye grass in which I go to loose and find myself through transcendental meditation & absorbing the beauty that God chose to let me be a part of. Breathtaking and awe-inspiring are words that just don’t do this place justice. Through the open fields are scattered low lying areas ripe and teaming with life. The Gullies are the land of the creaking and vigorously hopping frogs that lie dormant throughout the hot unforgiving sun beaten day. Waiting for the cooler part of the day when the Sun goes to hide on the other side of the planet. My determined & multi colored web spinning spider friends also call this part of the forest home. These 8 legged creatures also help me with the insect presence which makes me very fond of them. I try my best to quietly thank them in my head in passing for their flesh sacrifice. The open fields are lightly peppered with shrubs & pop corn trees enough to make one sneeze. They provide little to no sanctuary from the searing hot suns relentless attempt to burn the skin off anything found in its path. On occasion you will find a deer or rabbit cautiously making his way from one end to the other as if the animal were a timid old lady cautiously entering a dimly lit side walk on an overcast moon absent late evening shrouded in darkness. Beautiful butterflies in the forest serve as a reminder to evolve into something beautiful. High above the teaming with life forest floors soar magnificent eagles flying high above. They serve as a bitter reminder of the freedom we all once enjoyed before the loss of our freedom to apathy & inaction. I wish I could magically turn into an eagle so I could see things from there perspective. Life would seem simpler if we all had a different further back view. What’s even more incredible is what you don’t see. You don’t see man’s well defined shape and form. Which he prides himself on and ultimately feels is necessary for his way of life. None of these following things are around to hinder the beauty; trash, sidewalks, archways, power lines, construction, crying babies, or people to get on your nerves. Just pure unadulterated beauty to soak up with your eyes and spirit. Enough to proclaim, “Take me now, Dear Lord!” The best part of the entire experience is the peace. With the right set of circumstances, a man who has never found himself can be introduced to himself. The things one can learn when you realize that we are all as one are overwhelming! The best part about Wonderland is it hides a sacred beach used for Meditation & ancient rituals of sitting around a hot mosquito repelling fire telling elaborate stories of years past. Certainly without a doubt this ritual is older than time itself. The man made monument, “Stonedhenge” which serves as a calendar & an echoing reminder of how the Universe unfolds. I couldn’t think of a better altar for us to express our love for the undying beauty of Wonderland. Hovering 20 ft above the beach made up of logs drove into the loose endless pearly white sand in a circular formation. Revealing small pieces to an even larger puzzle man can’t possibly see with the naked eye alone. The river that runs along the beach has always served as a reminder of what I need most in my life. A little bit of direction and maybe throw in a little purpose. After all, a life worth living doesn’t get swallowed whole by apathy or inaction. This place I speak of is my sanctuary, I pray that man doesn’t sweep it up and turn it into his shape and form I so despise. Regrettably just as my childhood sacred places get swallowed up for materialism. I foresee the same fate for Wonderland. This only serves as a reminder that society is in a state of de-evolution. A primitive man attempting to take a blind eye to true beauty will eventually swallow up whole, gobble & spit out everything beautiful & replace it with a shopping mall for the sheep to enjoy their new khakis & other useless crap that they don’t need so that they can fit in with people that don’t matter. Here’s hoping that mankind will wake up & r...(read more) |
