About	Lt Col Jerry Byrd USMC (ret)passed away on January 19th at his home in San Marcos, CA. He was a native of Oklahoma and came to Woodlake at an early age. At Woodlake HS, Jerry was an outstanding student as well as a letterman in football, basketball and tennis, and was an officer in the California Cadet Corps. After graduating from Fresno State in 1960, he joined the US Marine Corps and served as a combat officer in Vietnam, Later he did postgraduate work at the Naval School at Monterey, CA. After over 20 years service, he retired in December 1980. Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda, two daughters, three grandsons, and his brother Jim from the class of 1955. ---Ted Heckathorn '56
