Caryl J. Devlin Obituary
Caryl J. Devlin, a lifelong resident of Winthrop, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 15, 2025. She was born in Winthrop on August 26, 1958, the beloved daughter of the late Marguerite “Caryl” (Herbert) and William B. Devlin.
Caryl dedicated many years to working as a waitress, including at the Winthrop Arms, the former JJ's Restaurant, and later at Hanscom Air Force Base in Burlington. She will be fondly remembered as a devoted friend and family member-someone you could always rely on for support and thoughtful advice.
She was the loving mother of Stephanie Citro (Vaughan) and her husband Paul of Revere, Courtney McGrath and her husband Chandler Squires of South Carolina. She was the dear sister of Janice Devlin and John “Jack” Devlin, both of Winthrop, and was predeceased by her siblings William "Billy" Devlin and Jean Sloan. Caryl was the cherished Gigi of Colten and Alaina (Squires)
She was the beloved niece to Cynthia Otter of Lynn and her late husband Raymond, and the late John Herbert. She is also lovingly remembered by her cousin, Virginia Otter of Lynn. Caryl also leaves behind nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM. Burial will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org.
