Joined in Oct 68, was a aircraft jet engine mach. for 6 1/2 years, went from active duty to Air Force Reserves as a Heating / cooling spec. Retired in March of 1990 as a Tsgt.

Larz Rodney Nelson

NCOIC Personal Affairs. Main job responsibility was casualty services (reporting, assisting families of deceased active/retired personnel). Worked directly with the Department of Veterans Affairs. After retirement I worked for the Maine Department of Labor as a Disabled Veterans Outreach Program counselor. Now a snowbird between Maine and Florida.

Rod Nelson

Enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on April 2, 1973 and retired on May 1, 1993. My AF Speciality Code was in counseling and my main job was to report and provide casualty assistance serivces to families of deceased active duty military duty and retired personnel. During the Vietnam War, I was responsible for assisting seven MIA families and throughout my career I assisted more than 3,000 families in applying for entitlements and benefits.
Decoration by the U.S. military four times; two Meritorious Service Medals; two Air Force Commendation Medals; six Air Force Outstanding Unit Awars; earned the Humanitarian Serivce Medal in 1976 for "Operation Snow Blow.
