About | ROGER ALLEN CHAPMAN, 79 WINTER HAVEN - Roger Allen Chapman, 79, Born September 22, 1931 to George and Lucy Chapman in Bronwood, GA, passed away on March 3, 2011 at Home from heart failure. Roger enjoyed being a great father and get-togethers with the family. Roger graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1950 and received a Football scholar ship from the University of Florida and attended school there and played football for the Gators. Roger was the owner of Chapman Tile Co, For 5 years until he retired. Roger was a Professional Square Dance Caller and Traveled through out the Southeast part of the country, Brazil & Hawaii. He was a member of American Callers Assoc. Florida Square Dance Callers Assoc. Roger was known for his master woodcarving Winning many awards all over the state and also instructed wood carving for the city of Winter Haven Recreation Dept. he was a member of the Ridge Carvers of Lakeland, Lunch Brunch and Winter Haven Woodcrafters.. Roger was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church. Roger was also a volunteer at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Pantry shelf helping to feed those in need. Preceded in death by father George Chapman and brothers Stephen Lacy Chapman and Thad B. Chapman. Survivors include - wife Mary Jane Name Chapman, and daughters - Deborah (Larry) Knowles of Winter Haven, Denise (John) Chapman of Auburndale, son - "Tiger" (Kelley) Chapman of Winter Haven, mother- Lucy M. Chapman, sisters Phyllis Partin of Orlando, Gale Atchison of Orlando, Brother - Charles "Bing" Chapman, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. We will gather with friends to celebrate his life with visitation at Crisp-Coon Funeral Home in Winter Haven from 5-8pm Monday and Memorial Service 10:00am Tuesday at St. Alban's Church in Auburndale.
