ROTC commission in 1981; served 21 years as a nurse, later as a Peds Nurse Practitioner. Served as a flight nurse at 9th AES at Clark Air Base in the Philippines 87-89. Deployed to contingency hospital in England during Desert Storm. Final assignment was Ramstein AB in Germany for 4+ years. Retired as Lt Col in May 2002.

I was in the USAF Nurse Corps. I served 28 years as a total active duty, reserves and Air National Guard. I had active duty assignments at Keelser AFB, MS, Clark AB, Phillippines, Travis AFB, CA, and Scott AFB, IL. My reserve assignments included 65th AES at Travis AFB, 137th AES at OK ANG, 89th ASF, Andrews AFB, Headquarters Surgeon General at Bolling AFB, and finally 19th Medical Group, Little Rock AFB. I have worked in orthopedics, neonatal intensive care, neonatal transport team, and flight nursing. At Little Rock I am a nurse practitioner in the Family Practice Clinic. I officially retire at the rank of Colonel on 2 April 2010.

Retired in 2006 after 28 years of commissioned service in the US Army, he mixed active duty, reserve, and National Guard Tours throughout his career. He served as an Intelligence Officer, a Counter-Intelligence Officer, a Counter-Terrorism Officer, a Rifle Platoon Leader, a Military Police Company Commander, and a Training Officer in assignments in the US and overseas. Although he served in multiple 0-6 Colonels billets; he retired in the rank of Major. He has had several articles on military history and theory published in professional military journals; and now serves as a civilian Concept and Doctrine Developer and Futurist at US Joint Forces Command in Virginia.
