About Me	"I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again." - Grellet So this is the "about me" section huh? We grew up in St. Albans, WV. Lived there until we were almost 14 when dad moved us to the "country" to Scott Depot, WV. Went to Alban Elementary, St. Albans Junior High and Winfield High School. I met my husband, Tom, on a blind date January 11, 1981, my senior year of high school. He was a Junior at Dunbar High School. We've been married since May 28, 1983. I graduated from Winfield High School, attended Marshall University and graduated from West Virginia State (College) University in 1984 with an Associate Degree in Accounting. We have one son, Tommy. He completed his Eagle Scout in April of 2006. I was his Cub Scout Den Leader for 5 years. We are so proud of him. He has his Bachelors in Business from WVSU. He married his high school sweetheart after almost 10 years on July 13, 2013. I was appointed by the Kanawha County Commission as a Commissioner on the Mt. Tyler PSD from 1994 to 1998. I was a Kanawha County Republican Executive Committeewoman for several years. I love to do scrapbooking but seem to only have time to scrap once a month. I don't think I'll ever get it all done. I worked on my genealogy for many years but haven't devoted as much time to it since our father passed in 1995. I'm getting back into it again and find the addiction has grabbed me once again. Working on DAR membership now. Tom and I like to ride bicycles. We've ridden on several of the rail trails around WV. We like to vacation in Virginia Beach. The Boardwalk is great for riding bikes and it's a very family friendly area. I've absolutely fallen in love with New York City. The museums, restaurants and Broadway...what's not to love? Tom and I did a lot of traveling from 2005-2011. We went to NYC, Hawaii twice, Vegas twice, Philly, Chicago, Detroit, Dearborn, DC, Hollywood, the Grand Canyon, Disney World, and several trips to Virginia Beach and Charlotte for the races. Tom's mother passed in 2011 and we now live with and care for his eldest brother, Sammy. Traveling will be a lot less from here on out. I'm an advocate for quite a few causes that have touched my life through family and friends. I walk in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for Breast Cancer (in honor of Survivors Barbara Simpkins, Shelia Marion, Cecelia Powers, Pam Bayes, Carol Brown, Barbara Hubbell, and Carolyn McKinney & in memory of Norma Marion (mother in law) Mark Reese and Mama "Minnie" Reese(grandma))every year. Other causes are the American Cancer Society (in memory of my dad, Glenn Snyder and my father-in-law Jim Marion), American Diabetes Association (in memory of my mom, Lillian Snyder), Alzheimer's and Dementia Association (in memory of my mom, Lillian Snyder), American Heart Association (in memory of my mom, Lillian Snyder), Special Olympics (in honor of my brother-in-law, Sammy), Hospice Care (in memory of my dad, Glenn Snyder and my father-in-law and mother-in-law Jim and Norma Marion), March of Dimes (for the kids), Victory Junction Gang Camp (for the kids), TOMS ...(read more)
