Gene De Forest

Class of 1968

My name is Gene De Forest and I did not graduate, but quite school when I was 16. I join the USMC and received and Honorable Discharge in California and stayed with family for a few years. I left California and came to Texas. I heard you could make a lot of money Shrimping. However, it was not fun for I spent most of my time sick. I lived on the streets of Aransas Pass for a number of months, no job, no home, no money and no food. I was blessed for a resturant in Aransas Pass feed me a meal a day till I could get on my feet. I happened to hear a man on the phone one day and I heard he tell the person he was talking with that he needed someone to go to work for him. When he hung up the phone I talked with him. He said he needed a ruffneck. I told him I did not know what that was but I needed a job. He picked me in the morning and I went to work for him on a drilling rig. I wanted to be a police officer and got my break one day in 1972 and I went to work being a cop. I started out with Ingleside Police Dept., went to Port Aransas Police Dept and then over to Aransas Pass Police Dept.. I work there for 4 years and got fed up with the Chief and other officers not doing things that wasn't right and went to work for an oil company. They went backrupt after a couple of years and I came to Conroe, Texas where I went to work for another oilfield company 2years they went bankrupt. So I decided to get back into Law Enforcement and went to work for the Conroe Police Dept. After 4 years on the street I became a Detective and became an expert in white ollar crimes. After almost 20 years with Conore Police, I became involved in politics. I ran for office in 2000 and was elected as the COnstable for Pct 2 here in Montgomery County, Conroe Texas. I took office January 1st 2001 each term being 4 years. I have just completed my 3rd term and was re-elected to my forth term and was sworn back into office on January 1, 2013 for 4 more years. I am very much involved in the community things such as life time member to the 100 Club, Conroe Police Officer's Association, Montgomery County Fair Association and I am a member to a number of different organization. I have received a number of awards through out my law enfrocement career in Montgomery County. I would like to remind you I quit school when I was 16 and lived on the streets. I am now very well liked by the community, married to my wife of 38 years, with a daughter and grand child.
