120 K-6 students, two grades/room, excellent staff, wonderful years at Winchester Elementary School. Teachers: Mrs. Bagby, K-1 Miss Highland, 2-3; Mr. Abramson, 3-4, Mrs. Stevenson, 5-7. Such fun with lots of good learning! I attended in grades 4-6. Graduated in June 1965. Lived on Simpson Rd. and Mr. Campbell was our bus driver. I enjoyed all my classmates. Remember the lift-top desks. Mr. Campbell made them. Miss Highland bought an original Ford Mustang, a ‘64 or ‘65. Wow! Mr. Abramson doubled as principal and teacher ‘62-63. Wonderful man! Mr. Smith was principal ‘63-‘65. He coached us in football. Play Day was so much fun. March was Marble Month each year. We planted a tree one year with all of our classmates’ names buried in the hole made. So many fond memories of WES...!
Correction: The principal and coach was Mr. Smyth, not Smith.
Correction: Mrs. Stevenson taught grade 5-6, not 5-7.
