About Me I retired as an Elementary Teacher in the Broward County School System. Prior to moving to Florida, I taught for 5 years at Smith Place Elem. It is now a park. In Broward County, I taught at Park Ridge Elem., Bennett Elem. and Nova Blanche Forman Elem. I was honored that the staff at Bennett Elem. voted me as Teacher of the Year 1999. I'm supportive of my husband's philanthropic fraternities and active with the ladies' groups. I'm Past President of Iham Lady Shriners and the Broward Shrinettes. I was First Lady when my husband was Mahi's Potentate in 2016 over all Shrine Clubs in Monroe, Dade and Broward Counties to help Shriners Hospitals for Children. Currently I am a member of Daughters of the Nile that also raise money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. And I attend events with my husband for the Doric Masonic Lodge (research), the Grotto (dental work for special needs children) and the Scottish Rite (speech therapy for children). Due to allergies I can only have poodles in the house and would like to breed again for those with similar allergic conditions. On the farm, we cared for dogs, cats, rabbits, a horse, a pony, steers, pigs, a lamb and chickens. I learned about responsibilities, reproduction, mortality and unconditional love with animals. Other childhood memories include being a part time pianist at Lynchburg Church of Christ, the children's church choir director, vocalist in Teens for Christ choir that toured the New England states and I sang Handel's Messiah with the Highland County Choir. Through 4H, my brother and I showed Herefords. But I was more successful at winning awards in sewing at the Clinton County Fair. I placed at Ohio's State Fair with my red raincoat and hat. 4H provided many experiences as I participated in the tri-county 4H Jr. Leadership Seminar, was a 4H camp counselor and a 4H exchange student. These experiences plus life lessons growing up on a certified soybean farm were used in teaching elementary children with varied learning skills. Even with life's ups and downs and disappointm...(read more)
