Graduation Year Class of 1971
Date of Passing Sep 10, 2025
About New Wilmington - Charles Walter Snyder, 71, passed away Sept. 10, 2025, with his wife, Colleen, and his son, Will, holding his strong yet weary hands.

He was flooded with loving words and memories from his family and friends in his last hours. He whispered words of love to pass on to them as well.

Chuck was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to George Walter Snyder and Marie Ellen Ruby Snyder.

He enjoyed track and field while at Wilmington High School and excelled at football, which earned him a scholarship to YSU.

Chuck owned and operated "Creative Communications," a successful telecommunications business servicing Hills and Ames department stores and many local alarm customers.

He liked watching football and was a Cleveland Browns fan. Chuck loved spending time outdoors, fishing and hunting. He always said being in nature was his church.

Chuck was also a true and loyal friend. He was very kind, very generous and had a big heart. One friend wrote this week "he was one of the kindest, easiest going, common sensical, smartest people I knew".

It is hard to portray how much this man meant and was loved by so many. He was a pillar of strength, love, guidance and support for his family. Nothing meant more to him.

Being a father to Will and Andrea was a role he treasured so dearly and was proud to watch them become parents themselves.

Papa became his most cherished title in life. His grandchildren Zoe, Sierra, Enli and Orin brought him great happiness, and he loved every minute with them. The bond between he and his only grandson was especially fun to witness.

Chuck and his wife, Colleen, celebrated their 22nd anniversary before he passed. He was a dedicated, loving and supportive husband. They loved vacationing at OBX, cooking together and spending time at their home. She will miss how he made her laugh, his compassionate heart and his deep, rich, bass voice. The love between them was strong and undeniable to anyone who knew them.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Colleen Ruth (Kearney); son, William George (Emily Stock) Snyder; daughter, Andrea (Jordan) Lubetkin; granddaughters, Zoe, Sierra, Enli and grandson, Orin; brother, George Snyder; sisters, Marilyn Ringbloom and Tammy (John) Anderson; parents-in-law, Brian and Sally Kearney; brothers- and sisters-in-law Brian, Debbie, Kate, Bill, Kevin, Mary, Patty, Jeff, Maureen and Paul; nephews, Shawn, Brian, Matt, Adam, Eric and Branden; nieces, Candace, Crystal, Kristen, Jessica, Sasha, Elizabeth, Shannon, Sarah and Bethany; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and was beloved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends as well.

He was preceded in death by parents, George and Marie; sister, Charlene Boyer and her husband, Raymond; brother, Terry Snyder; brother-in-law, Lyman "Bud" Ringboom; and nephews, Matthew and Daniel.

Rest in peace our beloved husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle and friend. You will be missed immensely and never forgotten.

Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, at Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington, PA and from 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, until the time of the 11 a.m. service at the New Wilmington Alliance Church, 127 N. New Castle St., New Wilmington, PA.
