About Me	Married Greg Smith from our class (he went by Nicholls in HS) and raised 2 children. Went back to college in 1986 for a second degree in microbiology. Worked in research at The Plant Cell Research Institute 4 years, and then at Stanford Univ 25 years. At Stanford in Sharon Long's lab, I worked on genetic and molecular aspects of a symbiosis between bacteria and plants, and had the opportunity to travel to international meetings.
