Dave Sommer

Class of 1974

Dave had a very different after high school experience. Instead of going on in school and earning a degree, he learned more at the school of hard knocks. After toiling at various jobs until "75 he settled in to a retail setting. He excelled at this and was a fast learner and applied what he learned from every mentor he had. Dave left WNY in'86 for Boston MA to pursue his dream job there. He worked for many different shoe stores over the years. He finally settled in with one. Naturlizer shoes had been in need of someone like Dave for some time. He not only turned around a failing store he was also the co district manager for the New England
district . During that time Dave was on the road a lot and also running his own store in Hanover MA. That was what he did best because at that time the district showed an overall 25% growth in sales thanks to him. Dave had to return to WNY in '04 to help his Mom take care of is not so healthy Father and has been home ever since. He is now retired and living in North Tonawanda.
