Davies, Linda Louise Lillie

1952-2026

Born Jan 07, 1952, Davies, Linda Louise Lillie attended Williamsburg High School in Williamsburg, IA.

Class of 1970
Jan 07, 1952 - Jun 03, 2026
Age-74 Linda was born January 7, 1952 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of David John and Erna Ida Rose(Iburg) Davies. After graduating from WHS in 1970, Linda attended Kirwood Comm. College, studying Floriculture. Linda was united in marriage to William Lillie on June 19, 1971, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. They made their home in rural Marengo on the family farm. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, arranging flowers, card games with her friends, and going to the casino with her cronies. Linda's greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren(14) and great-grandchildren(8). She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo and the Altar Guild. Over the years Linda worked on the farm, as well as many different jobs, while raising her family of four children-Becky, Jason, Adam and Morgan. Those jobs included sorting corn at Pioneer Seed Corn, arranging flowers at Rosa's Flower shop, cooking at the Landmark Restaurant, Colony Market Place, Marengo Memorial Hospital and Rose Haven. She was also the produce lady at Big G for many years. Linda died on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo, following a brief illness. In May, 2026 she went to a pre-op appointment for rotator cuff surgery. The testing revealed Linda had cancer and she passed a few weeks later. Service was Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at the American Legion Hall in Marengo, with burial in the Marengo Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband William, her mother Erna Davies of rural Williamsburg, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings John, James and Kristine plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Sarah Meyer. Linda was a regular at class reunions. Her ever present good nature and kindness will be missed...

Linda wowed me with an unexpected activity that she participated in-Rose Bowl parade volunteer. She helped assemble floats for a Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California. Her education, knowledge and experience with floriculture provided the foundation for a spectacular Rose Bowl experience. Way to go Linda !!!
