Age-19 Vonnie was a successful high school wrestler, football player(#55) and a member of the FFA. He raised prize lambs and was presented the Iowa Farmer award at the State FFA Convention, April 1970-Cedar Rapids, Iowa. To be eligible for this honor, members must have completed two years of voacational agriculture instruction, be proficient in parliamentary procedure, have earned at least $500 from supervised farming projects and have shown leadership ability. Vonnie went to the Navy after high school. He was returning to Illinois Base after a leave and was killed in an auto accident in Illinois. We thank you for your service Vonnie and we miss you.
