Graduation Year Class of 1979
Date of Passing Apr 04, 2013
About Benjamin Heath “Ben” Collier, a resident of Kernersville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 8, 2013. He was born on July 7, 1961 in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from William Fleming High School in Roanoke, Virginia. He attended Wake Forest University on a football scholarship, and he later served in the US Army. On June 7, 1998, he married the love of his life, Cammie Harris. Together they owned and operated Sawbriar Acoustic Stage in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, a labor of love where Ben also served as a sound engineer. Ben was a passionate horticulturalist, working in that capacity for many years at both the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Reynolda Gardens of Wake Forest University. He loved watching his Wake Forest Demon Deacons, and being in touch with nature… gardening, body surfing at the beach, white water canoeing, and hiking.
