About Me | Ah! Yes ... Synopsis of my life Story! As some of you know, I had already accumulated enough credits to graduate high school early. So my first really BIG! Life's decision, was about to be made. Do I go to college, or work? Right or Wrong! I choose the latter, embarking on a career path in construction. If you live near the Bay Area, in a Pre-1980's structure, it's possible I participated in constructing your home and/or commercial/Industrial complex. I know! The question is why didn't you go to college straight out of "Overfelt High School"(Go ... Royals ... Go)" Sometimes I ask myself that same question. I always seem to arrive at the same answer. I just wasn't ready for serious educational commitment! I didn't want to spent four years of my life, with the only thing to show for it; was a Major in "Keggers" and a Minor in "Education". Couple of years after high school I married, had my first of life's little miracles, a daughter. A few years after my daughter was born, I was blessed with life's second little miracles, a son. Obviously personal goals and ambitions change. Creating another one of life's BIG! Decisions; which professional, career, personal, parental path should I pursue? I chose returning to the academic realm, Adult Education evening "Architectural" classes. Progress went so well, I decided to continue my education at "Evergreen Valley College". Yes! I got my ten year pin at Evergreen (One of Life's Special Circumstance). My professional career reached a transition point. I re-focused academic pursuits from "Evergreen Valley College", to "California Academy of Drafting" technical Institute. After graduating from "California Academy of Drafting" certified in MOS design. I was able to pursue my career, in the up and coming Solid State Electronics Industry (Silicon Valley, as most people refer to it). While juggling the responsibilities of taking care of my children, and working in the Electronics Industry full time. I continued persuing personal academic endeavors at "Evergreen Valley College" and "San Jose City College", taking evening classes, a couple of times a week. During these formative years, I became a single parent (Raising children full time). Obviously my personal time was divided among Children (#1), Work (#2) and Education (#3). But I was able to manage all three successfully. Part of my Litmus test to this statement is: My children had a roof over their head, food on the table, clothes on their back, and the ability to achieve an education without hurdles and/or false boundaries. After hitting some of life's "BIG" speed bumps, I was able to see light at the end of the tunnel. After graduation at "Evergreen Valley College" and "San Jose City College", I continued academic pursuits at "University of Phoenix". I completed "Bachelors of Science in Business Administration" technical curriculum during the mid 80's. During this 80's period, my professional career suffered a setback (Can you say Layoff). So I relocated my family to Newport Beach, California, where my professional career thrived from the mid 80's to early 90's. My children were now in their teens, and I taught a semester at "Academy of Science and Technology" in Orange County (Employer contributed, time off during the day). Also during this time I sat on the "American Electronics Association" (AEA) board, in Orange County. And Yes! Continuing education activities, attending evening classes at "University of California Irvine" (Go ... Ant Eaters ... Go). Just as opportunity took me to Newport Beach, It was opportunity which returned my family and I, back to the Bay Area. During the early 90's, my daughter attended college; my son attending "Prospect High School", and Yes! You guessed it! I was taking evening classes at "University of California Berkeley" (Go ... Bears ... Go). My children are now grown (I'm very proud of them both); I have four wonderful grandchildren, so far? I am "Retired" or "Unemployed" (Depending on if you see the glass as half empty, or half full). I've taken this "sabbatical opportunity" to travel extensively over the past few years (Travelling I could not have done while working full time), and still "Enjoying Life" to the fullest. (Yes! I'm still single after all these years; I have yet to find my SoulMate) You could say I'm a lifelong learner. I still pursue academic endeavors, granted not always in formal academic context (but in my personal opinion: "you never, say never"). I continue my personal growth through Research, Science, Engineering projects, Hobbies, Life, Etc. Spending quality moments with family and grandchildren. Generally dealing with today's "Sign of the Times", navigating never ending challenges, cordially known as the "Speed Bumps of Life". "S...(read more) |
