About Me	Eric A. Evans, Ph.D., is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Disability Rights Nebraska where he has been employed since 1987. As CEO, he is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization and Board relations. Dr. Evans has over 44 years of experience in advocating on behalf of people with disabilities at the State and national levels. Prior to his affiliation with Disability Rights Nebraska, he served as the Planning Director and, subsequently, as Executive Director for the Governor’s Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities. He has served as an Instructor in the Human Services Program at Southeast Community College where he taught courses on developmental disabilities and supervised practicum students at the Beatrice State Developmental Center. He also worked at the Lincoln Regional Center as a psychiatric technician, social service worker and mental retardation program specialist. Dr. Evans holds an A.B. in anthropology from Miami University (Ohio), an M.A. in anthropology from the UNL, and a Ph.D. from UNL with specialization in the Philosophical Foundations of Education. He has published articles on the history of developmental disabilities services in Nebraska, the quality of life of people with developmental disabilities and the development of the Individual Justice Plan model for people with developmental disabilities involved with the criminal justice system. Dr. Evans has a strong interest in the philosophy of John Dewey and served as a Lecturer in the history and philosophy of education in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska—Lincoln.
