Hello everyone! I'd like to get everyone's feedback on what we should do for our reunion. The dates of the East High Centennial is Oct 6th (Friday) and Oct. 7th (Saturday). The Class of 1973 is doing the planning of the centennial event. There are no times yet but on Friday, there is a pre-game tailgate party for the Homecoming game, something for alumni cheerleaders and alumni recognition and an evening alumni party. On Saturday, there is parade, building tours, party on the front lawn with city VIPs and alumni speakers and an evening alumni party.
I don't know whether we will want to celebrate doing their evening activities or not so I am putting out feelers for what everyone may want to do. I know some people may want to go to the football game, but I don't think everyone will, so we will need our own plans to be able to spend time together as a class. Being Kansas in October, we should probably have an indoor venue.
The same venue we had our last reunion at, La Vela by the Candle Club, (I believe that is the name) is available Friday night at the moment (places are filling up fast for that weekend) and its possible we could use the Candle Club itself on Saturday night.
I need to talk to the people who run those 2 places no later than this Friday so if everyone could get back with me sooner rather than later, it would be appreciated. I'm sure other people have some great ideas so please share them so the planning can get started.
Other or additional questions are:
Do we want to try and invite maybe the class of 67 and/or 69 to our Friday night?
Is there any interest to have guests at ours? Friends from other high schools (that are in town)? Other classes - 67 or 69? Other ideas?
Is anyone interested in having a band or DJ on Friday night? I don't know if there could be one on Saturday if it does happen to be the Candle Club.
I am going to contact the person in charge of the planning for the East by email to get further information regarding times and will share with everyone. Please share your thoughts.
